This planter was also one of the extras resulting from the design process when I was creating a custom pair sun and moon themed planters like planter 8.
The original person requesting the design wanted to be able to distinguish the varying glaze colors more clearly like a sunset. For this one, they felt the boundary between the dark and light glaze was too abrupt.
What we appreciate is often relative to our expectations. Although the original person didn't like this result, someone else loved it =). I sold the planter with one of the extra sun plates I had also made in the design process. This sun planter was adopted with a moon planter by a pair of twin sisters ^_^
