The "volcano" shape of this vase was intentional to create stability in this piece because I made this to hold kitchen utensils. This was my second try for making a utensil holder, and this time I made sure it was tall enough =)
The blush effect on the matte white glaze on the lower half of this glaze indicates that the vase was placed next to another piece that had a copper glaze. Evaporation of glazes during the glaze fire can sometimes flash onto a nearby piece. Sometimes ppl purposely place their work in this way to create the blush effect.
