I call this an "egg vase". I made this piece when I was obsessing over creating the perfect egg shape. It took dozens of practices, but this one finally came out with balanced curves. Creating shapes that taper upwards are challenging because clay likes to move outward when you throw. It's a slow and steady process to carefully bring the clay in and upwards.
I love how the brown glaze on top creates a burgundy-wood look. Had I glazed the entire piece with just this glaze, it would have looked like a wooden egg!
